GT40 related books , videos and models
Before purchasing a GT 40 replica kit I spent about a year researching the project. Reading everything I could get my hands on, from newspaper articles and articles in the specialist press to the many books written on GT 40's, Caroll Shelby, Lola Cars, Ford Motor Cars and the Le Mans races.
This is a list of books that I have found with material relating to these cars, as well as Ford's involvement with the Le Mans races and Carroll Shelby's involvement with Ford. Some of them are out of print and hard to track down while others are just difficult to find.
When you are contemplating spending around £20,000 on a car then the £250 spent buying a selection of books, videos, models or reprints of articles would seem a good investment. Spending the thousand pounds or so amassing the following library would I think be overkill, especially as some of the older books are now collectors items and are commanding high prices.
If you are looking for books dedicated to the GT 40's then this the place to start, coverage is from 1962 to date.

All of the following books mention our cars but not as the main subject. They contain race reports, sports car development, personality reports and stories of the road and race cars from the period 1962 to date. GT 40's et. are not the main meat of the text and in several cases there is only the briefest of mentions. Most make interesting reading and help to sort out the myths and legends surrounding the GT 40's and Fords involvement with the Le Mans Races and Shelby's involvement with Ford.
